No messing with multiple bags for different foods and you can be sure your kid will bring this one home. There are three compartments in the lower level to help divide the food. Hard plastic covering keeps things from being squashed and crumbled. Small ice packs can fit either into the top layer if you aren't using that or in one of the bottom sections to keep food chilled. The layers are seperated by a hard plastic divider which keeps things from spilling out when you put the two sides together. Portion control is easy. The bad: although it fits together nicely, it is cheap and therefor not airproof. Crumbs can spill out, cut fruit is exposed to air and can brown, odors can leak. Dressings and dips should not be put in this unless you are careful to make sure it stands upright the entire time. Regular size chips dont fit into the smaller compartments so you use the bite size ones Overall I have found this product great for transporting the following things: sandwiches, nuts, small chips/crackers, cookies, dried fruit, cut veggies, salads (large compartment for lettuce and small compartments for toppings), deli meat, grapes, cheeses, condiment packages. On days where I simply used as a carrier from the home fridge to work fridge I could add dips/dressing and just made sure I kept it facing the right direction. On days where the fridge was not available it made it easy to keep all my (dry) lunch items together and it could bang around in a bag without squashing my food. I bought mine at a dollar store so when my mom borrowed them for lunch meetings- she simply placed the plastic container in the recycable container rather than carry it out of the meeting with her.
