We received a variety of these Calphalon nylon utensils as a gift about ten months ago. So far none of them have melted like "cheap" plastic utensils, but they have not proven to be very durable in other regards. I am looking to replace several of the pieces and won't be buying this "model" again for a couple of reasons: First, the edges have "flaked". I am not sure how else to put it, they aren't exactly cracked but layers of the material have peeled away and this caused little bits of the utensil to break free and add unwanted "seasoning" to my dishes. Second, they DO bend pretty easily and the silicon surface peeled up at the stress point within weeks. It appears that the silicon section just isn't mounted well. Third, though they claim to be dishwasher safe, one pass through the washer left them with permanent light spots/stains- they look like bleach stains. Overall I am not completely dissatisfied, after all the ones that haven't begun "flaking" still do the job with mediocre performance. I don't feel like the purchase price of these would be a waste by any means, I have just used better and would recommend purchasing an alternative.
