After several months the hot plate began showing signs of rust. Shortly after that we noticed the coffee wouldn't stay hot, a sign that the damage to the hot plate was more than just aestetic. Finally we rose yesterday to find it never brewed and nothing we could do would get it to turn on. I don't recall the purchase date but it's all of a year old, maybe less.
